Niet elke dag is er zonneschijn *

Still coming down to earth from our fab trip to Amsterdam, and today the weather has been "up and down like a whore's drawers" again, so although I managed to do a bit of pottering in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers, it now looks like a real storm is coming in, so that's that.

Time for a little selection of "newer" music that has caught my ear, methinks...

Let's open with something from an old fave group [who have sadly announced that they are calling it quits after 35 years together] - with a rather (ahem) appealing video:

Speaking of "old faves", here's a man who knows what he wants!

Another video that rather caught my eye... [Song's not bad, either.]

Now for something completely different - it's one of our [recently featured] Dutch Patron Saints, with a completely new face!

Another jolly one we "collected" on holiday in Amsterdam - with what else but a video dedicated to pizza(?):

From the ridiculous... to the utterly bonkers! I love this [somewhat reminiscent of Cyndi Lauper, which is no bad thing in my book]:

And, saving the best to last - this!

As ever, let me know your thoughts, dear reader...

[* Niet elke dag is er zonneschijn = "Not every day there is sunshine"; part of the lyrics to "Tutto Bene" above]

    1. Each to their own, dear Mitchell...

That canal is idyllic - and it's where we stay every year, in the heart of the Red Light District (De Walllen). If you zoom in, dead centre of the photo is a small red square sign for the Anco Hotel (with the back of the proprietor Karl, seated at the top of the steps to the doorway, like a whore 😊). Jx

  2. I like Saint Etienne, too. Like the video - oh how I miss pavements!

Bright Light - Non! Reliant on the video - it would bore me on the radio.

    Gio X - as above.

Gerald Joling - I would probably love it if I'd been on holiday!!!

    Thomas Julian - As above!!

Haute and Freddy - Could be a grower.

Confidence Man - Erm....I think that beat would really annoy me if I heard it on the radio.

    Apologies!!

    1. Thank you for taking the time to listen to them all, Ms Scarlet! I'm inclined to agree with some of them, that it is indeed the video that makes the song better... Jx

PS Pavements are rather important - especially if there's semi-naked totty gyrating around on them!

  4. As always we emersed our selves in Dutch culture (Febo and bars) and Dutch music.
Gerard Joling - Twee Motten was with out doubt THE song of my holiday.

I am with Ms Scarlet on the others. All fab videos and might be growers.

  5. I quite like the Saint Etienne one and Confidence Man & JADE, but must agree with Ms Scarlet that it's the videos that make Bright Light x2's (nice to see some "real" male forms for a change) and GIO X's (if he was selling Fry's Turkish Delight I'd buy it, repulsive as it is) efforts memorable.
The novelty songs of Gerald Joling and Thomas Julian didn't do it for me, although "Twee Motten" was quite catchy.

My favourite - by far - is Haute & Freddy's "Shy Girl". I loved it!! And I do see the Cyndi Lauper influence - I'm also getting a bit of Bette Midler from Hocus Pocus!
Going back for a third listen now.

    Thank you, Jon x

    1. We live in an age where videos sell songs as much as the songs themselves do - which is no bad thing until you end up buying a track or a CD and listen to a track in isolation. Some work, some don't.

Haute & Freddy were quite the discovery this time around - I must look out for more of their stuff! Jx
