After a stressful last week at work, and the glittering spectacle of the Cartier exhibition at the V&A - read my post about that over at Dolores Delargo Towers Museum of Camp - followed by a fab evening at our fave Wetherspoons the Penderel's Oak yesterday, it has (understandably) been a bit of a lazy day today, despite the lovely sunshine.
However, I have stumbled across a bit of a treat that I needed to share, dear reader!
Our beloved and much-missed Victoria Wood was renowned for her "observational" style of comedy. Her sketches and characters were often based upon, or inspired by, real-life people, conversations, and scenarios she had experienced - and this unintentionally hilarious video clip is a perfect example of something that deeply influenced her.
She loved it so much, she apparently used to watch it every Xmas!
I utterly adore it, too!
OMFG that is amazing.
ReplyDeletePure Victoria Wood from beginning to end and nothing to do with her.
You can see how it inspired her work. Characters, costume and camera work.
Love it.
Happy Christmas Victoria.
It's gob-smacking! Everything about it is hilarious - and crying out for a cameo from Julie Walters, in horn-rim specs. Jx
DeleteOh dear god! And this was serious?!? How embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteWhoever came up with the idea was either on drugs, or else just taking the piss... A perfect example of "it's so-bad-it's-good"! Jx
