You know what I'm looking for

Oh, blessed relief - the weekend's almost in sight. Thank fuck for that! I've had quite enough of this week. However, John-John and I are off to see the much-anticipated Fantastic Four: First Steps at the cinema in Leicester Square this evening, so there's something rather exciting to look forward to!

Meanwhile - you know you're getting older when...

...you discover that none other than our beloved Gina G celebrates her 55th birthday this weekend! Gulp.

I need no excuse to play this old fave yet again - and Thank Disco Gina It's Friday!

You cannot help but smile whenever you hear that one - have a fab weekend, dear reader!

  1. We have very different taste in music at times and it finally dawned on me, it’s our difference in age! Kids! Fantastic Four’s Thing has always reminded me of something unpleasant.

    1. It is funny - as adults, we don't consider an age gap of less than a decade to make much difference whatsoever, but when you're young it makes all the difference! That, and being born and brought up in two very different countries...

The Thing was always one of my favourite comic characters, even if he does rather resemble an animated orange dog poo at times. 🤣 Jx

    2. I couldn’t figure out quite how to describe The Thing. That’s it!

    3. He's so much better than a sum of his parts, however - especially now I've seen the film! Jx

  2. "You know what I'm looking for?"

Either dick or a cocktail? In no particular order.

I have a pool party and Bar-B-Q to attend if the weather holds out tomorrow.

  4. Oh, I'm looking forward to Fantastic Four, too! I'll probably see it next week as I'm off to see Superman this Thursday (aside from Wonder Woman, I've given the DC films a miss until now, but this Superman looks like it might actually be a breath of fresh air).
I gather (from the next post) that you enjoyed it.

    1. I never got into DC (comics or films) - I have such a long history of being absorbed into the "Mighty World of Marvel" (which was indeed the title of the British comic published way back in the early 1970s, featuring all the heroes still familiar today, that was my entry into that world) that there's hardly any room for their heroes as well (apart from the Adam West "Batman" TV series, of course).

Fantastic Four: First Steps was everything I wanted from a film about "Marvel's first family", from its wonderful "retro-futuristic" look, through to the way the Four were portrayed, to the truly-silly-yet-gripping comic-book plot. I was utterly blown away by it. Jx
