You're so fuckin' special

We are well overdue another dip into some of the newer musical highlights that have hoved into my consciousness recently...

As the sparkle-dust has settled after the Diamond Jubilee celebrations last weekend, so another glittering season begins - the countdown to World Pride in London in a month's time! We've begun our preparations in earnest, and it should be spectacular (but more of that nearer the time!). Let's kick off with this snazzy little number [I have no idea what the music is, btw 2019 update - the music is Blue Jeans (Smims & Belle Remix) by Lana Del Ray] featuring a favourite stud-muffin Eliad Cohen and his chums in one of his by now notorious club ads, hailing the opening of Tel Aviv Pride on 8th June. Whew!

Thanks to a heads-up from the lovely Mike over at Pop Trash Addicts, here's the new single and video from Mr Cosmo Jarvis (of Gay Pirates fame). Wandering round what looks like Bournemouth [it's actually Torbay] - in some very revealing tights indeed - the single is called Love This. And I do:

There's nothing to beat a bit of gay nude wrestling on a Sunday, is there? And that's just what the fantabulosa Irrepressibles serve up for our delectation, to accompany their super-cool new single Arrow:

Now, breathe.

The next song may be a bit of a departure for me, musically - but some tunes just have a habit of getting into one's head and just refuse to get out again. This is indeed the case with the Karen Carpenter-soundy-likey Rumer (remarkably not from down-home USA but a Pakistan-born British singer) with her cover of an obscure Jimmy Webb song about an even more obscure 60s singer songwriter:

Back to the campness! It's got pogo-ing monks. It has Muscle Marys. It even has a cameo appearance from Terence Stamp! It's the new single from Hot Chip! All together now: "Do I look like a rapper?"

Another epic video accompanies the newest single from the lovely out-gay Sam Sparro. It's a catchy, moody song (as we should expect), but I can't wait to hear some remixes...

She has a reputation for being a weirdo, without doubt, and so it was inevitable that Miss Macy Gray would turn her inimitable attention to that "anthem of the outsider", Radiohead's classic Creep. This is taken from her forthcoming album Covered, in which she tackles songs by among others Eurythmics, Arcade Fire and Metallica(!)...

To finish, it's our favourite Big Willy! Mr Will Young's new single has taken him along a slightly more funky route than usual, with great results. Let's hope this will get him back into the top of the charts where he belongs - fabulously camp video, too!

As always, enjoy! And let me know your thoughts...

  4. The ones i enjoyed here: Hot Chip and Cosmo Jarvis, (And I really like Lana Del Rey of course, although it's not her video) . I like the Will Young song, although there are better single choices on the album (and I dont care for the video). But my #1 choice from this lot: The Irrepressibles.
