A World Class Event

We had a magnificent day at World Pride yesterday!

Of course, as is our wont, our gang has been working towards our chosen theme of Georgian/Regency/Lestat/Versailles/Rococo since we cast our votes at Proms in the Park last September - and my word, the work paid off. We looked spectacular!

This being the 40th year of Pride rallies in London, it was fitting that the procession was led by Peter Tatchell, Angela Mason and the surviving veterans of that pioneering event.

We had a brilliant time, despite everything that the weather could throw at us and the attempt by Westminster Council and the Pride Committee to ruin the occasion. Thousands more people turned up than the police had predicted (despite the early start and the lack of floats) - in my opinion, many more than the "official figure" of 25,000 - and countries from all four corners of the world were represented, including violently oppressed Uganda, Eastern Europe and Asia.

A world class event, after all!

Our photos and videos are all over the web. We are featured here at around 15 minutes in:

A brilliant day. Same time, same place, next year?!

    1. Well, the voting for next year's theme will take place, as is traditional, at Proms in the Park on Saturday 8th September. We always have "the Pride AGM" then. So get your ideas together - will you be coming along with us? Jx

  6. A really wonderful day!!1 Sadly, Cronain and I will be away during the Proms, but if I was going I'd vote for either Steam Punk, (some of us already have the outfits), or something in really bright colours. Perhaps we could go as the rainbow flag? Hils x

    1. I can't see me in primary colours somehow, and Steampunk is not very "Gay Pride Mid-Summer" wear, but we'll have to see see how the votes go... Jx
