Let's Danse

Time for a "proper" musical interlude, methinks...

...and here is a touch of class this blog so desperately needs:

Truly brilliant!

Gawd bless the BBC...

  1. In a way Americans were lucky (and that's not a phrase you can use much now) to have commercial broadcasting first, so they knew what it would look like if that was all there was, and knew they *had* to set up PBS and National Public Radio. They saw the "vast wasteland". We've always had the BBC so we never have. And I hope we never do.

  2. And all done at home, by the look of it. Bravo!

    1. Whenever they do one of these "mass orchestra in lockdown" thingies, apart from taking a quick critique of their home decor, I always wonder "What must the neighbours think?" Jx

  4. I've always loved that song, such a weird little piece, and this has to be the vest version I've ever heard. Plus the editing on the video was great.

And what is the difference between a marimba and a xylophone?

    1. The marimba has resonator tubes hanging below the wooden bars/keys, apparently - plus, it is easier to write lyrics about. Jx

  5. Jonathan Creek?!!
    Very nice.

    1. Never watched it, so I haven't a clue about the reference, sorry. Jx

    2. It's the theme music! I liked Jonathan Creek - I still watch it occasionally in the background. It makes very good daytime wallpaper.

    3. We have the radio on more than the telly any day - as I am working from home I wouldn't be watching TV anyhow, but it isn't a habit we've ever really had even on weekends. Jx

    4. I know, it's odd, but I find music more distracting than the TV. I think it's because I give music more attention. I'll be asked about what's happening on the TV and I rarely have a clue.

    5. Radio 3 is mainly undemanding - until they cross the "Stravinsky threshold" or feature "an exciting new work by a 22-year-old Japanese composer", of course. Then we're off to Classic FM like a shot, which is OK as long as you mute their terrible adverts. Jx
