Walken on sunshine

It's 35C and rising out there, peeps - and guess where I am? Yup. Indoors, working. And what's the forecast for the weekend, I hear you ask? Twenty-two degrees. Of course.

Never mind, eh? Once the clock strikes 4pm, I shall be locking that bloody laptop away FOR A FORTNIGHT! Two whole weeks away from work - and a weekend in our beloved Amsterdam in between - to look forward to. Yay!

It's also Fatboy Slim's birthday today - so let's get the party started early, in the company of one of the greatest dance music geniuses this country has ever produced - and Thank Disco Christopher Walken It's Friday! I wish I could do this...

Have a great weekend, peeps!

    1. Oh yes - a very (ahem) friendly place, as I recall. Can't imagine how one would maintain social distancing in that place, however. I doubt somehow it will be open, given the circumstances we're in at the moment. Our favourite bars include Montmartre and Spyker Bar, and they're quite small venues so we'll have to see whether they've managed to open, too. The Queen's Head has more space and more seated tables, so they might have a better chance. I shall be reporting back on the whole situation, no doubt.

I'd guess you'll be doing Blackpool rather than Benidorm this year? Jx

    2. Benidorm, Gran Canaria and 5 days on the English Riviera have all been cancelled. Fingers crossed for Blackpool in September.

    3. Spain, I can understand - but Torquay? I can't think of many other resorts where social distancing was de rigeur for decades before coronavirus.

Thank heavens you didn't have a week booked in the Travelodge in Leicester. Jx

    4. I hope you have a good time dear in Amsterdam. Like everybody else, my big vacation was to be to Lake Como and Portofino but, sadly cancelled two months ago. Damn virus.

    5. Mitzi might be back in lockdown, Jon. We all might be back in lockdown by the end of September!

    6. We were so fortunate that we got our week in Spain in February, and a few shows, before lockdown. Even if everything goes backwards when we get back from the 'Dam, we will make the most of the mini-break while we can. I have hardly left the house for four months, so I really need a change of scenery. We have a nice range of masks for every occasion... Jx

  4. Too hot. Too hot! I was quite happy to be ensconced in my north-facing, cool home office yesterday. I ventured out on to the paysho at lunchtime and was nearly fried to a crunchy crisp as soon as I stepped out.

Two weeks off, and temperatures set to mid-20s to low-30s (at least in your neck of the woods - rather cooler here on the coast) - Happy holidays, Jon!

    1. Yesterday was a bit uncomfortable. We had to rescue a few hanging plants that were suffering from the heat - and then it went all muggy and felt like it was going to thunder yesterday evening, so I hardly saw any sun as I was indoors for most of it. Pah.

Long-range forecast says 28C for Amsterdam next weekend, however - yay! Jx
