C'est toi l'plus Beau

Sigh. Back to the office time...

Never mind, eh?

On this Tacky Music Monday, we have the sublime Mlle Liliane Montevecchi and her gays de sécurité to "va-va-voom up" our mood!

Fantabulosa!

Have a good week, dear reader.

  1. Sorry you can’t smoke or cry. That video is a riot. Plus Pat Boone and Hollywood Palace! I wonder if he was wearing his white bucks.

    1. It is a rather fab find, isn't it!

As for Pat Boone, never liked the man (and I have no idea what "white bucks" are) - but did you know he did a whole album of heavy metal covers?! I posted one of the - ahem - choicer tracks here [and we even downloaded the whole album, purely for the novelty value not to play, of course]!

    2. Yes, I remember his venture into metal. Ugh. I had a crush on him when I was a kid. I grew up and learned what he was like and no longer had a crush. I wore white bucks as a child. They are described as: “Laced suede or buckskin (or Nubuck) derby shoes, usually with a red sole, long popular among the student body of Ivy League colleges.” My mother had aspirations. Pat Boone was well-known for wearing them.

    4. Dear God, no! NEVER after Labor Day. Nor before Memorial Day. No gin in that time period either.

    5. Means nothing to me, sweetie - although when I was a lot younger I did know a proper old-school "tweedy lady" (of the Somerset Maugham/EF Benson type) who always switched from gin to whisky in autumn because "gin's a summer drink!" Exactly what was the defining turning-point is a mystery, as we have no equivalent of the American "Labor Day". I assume it was something like the "Summer Social Season" that would end (August shooting season aside) - as our gang's does to this day - with The Last Night of the Proms in mid-September... Jx
