RIP, Terence Stamp. We loved you.
And, so, the countdown to our trip to Amsterdam starts in earnest - only two days to go, and we'll be off!
No such countdown would be complete, of course, without an appearance by that triumph of art over nature Gerard Joling, stalwart of the most Dutch of "cultural instititions" De Toppers - and here, on this Tacky Music Monday, is a classic sing-along [well, it is if you speak Dutch] number that we've always loved. We've spent much time in Dutch bars that are just like this...
Oh, I can't wait!
I just learned a bit more Dutch. Fun song, even having no idea what they were singing. Oh, Terence Stamp. Loved him.
ReplyDeleteNobody really cares what they're singing - the Dutch are having a drunken good time, and that's all that matters! In our experience, we can sing old Music Hall numbers like "Don't Dilly-Dally On The Way" or "Let's All Go Down the Strand" in time with their oom-pah music, and nobody even notices 😍 Jx
Delete"Amsterdam, jij bent mooi"
ReplyDeleteRip Terrance you were cooler that cool
Terence Stamp simply oozed cool. Jx
DeleteGet out the tissues. It's raccoon time.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite actors. And nobody will ever play Bernadette as well as he did.
Nobody else could deliver our fave - and much-quoted - line: "Now listen here, you mullet. Why don't you just light your tampon, and blow your box apart? Because it's the only bang you're ever gonna get, sweetheart!"
DeleteA sad loss. Jx
agreed to both.
DeleteHis turn alone in Pracilla was a triumph
ReplyDeleteOnce a class actor, always a class actor. Jx
