The lady who-oo
Many happy returns to the lovely Miss Esther Ofarim, who blows out 72 candles on her cake today.
Relatively forgotten these days, Israel's original diva has been performing, on and off, over seven decades. She first came to fame when she represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Festival in London fifty years ago, and still has a large fan base in Germany.
But it is for this tune, which was a huge favourite of mine when it came out [I was five years old at the time!], that we remember her with the greatest fondness - with her (then) husband Abi, dancing round the middle of the City, it's the marvellous Cinderella Rockafella:
PS The groovy, loved-up couple divorced two years later.

This is one of those songs that occasionally gets stuck in my head for days on end.
