Sharing her celebrations with another weird and wonderful collection of the great and the good (and not so good) including not-yet-a-Dame Petula Clark, Mantovani, Daniel Barenboim, William Pitt the Elder, Ed Asner, Roberto Cavalli, Aneurin Bevan, Richmal Crompton, J. G. Ballard, Jonny Lee Miller, Sacheverell Sitwell, Alexander O'Neal, Peter Phillips and - erm - Erwin Rommel...
...it's the 75th birthday today of Princess Anni-Frid, Dowager Countess of Plauen, better known, of course, as Frida!
Her career with Abba is more than well known and catered for elsewhere - so, to mark this faboo milestone, I need no excuse to revisit this remarkable bit of campery from the then Miss Lyngstad's early solo career!
Grattis på födelsedagen, Frida!
That clip is wonderful, it makes me howl! Happy birthday Frida x.
ReplyDeleteI love it too! I wonder whatever happened to the two queens? Jx
DeleteThose two queens are probably now living together..eating bons bons...picking out new doilies for the wood furniture...and having the neighbourhood wondering Who are those colorful queens and which one is the top?
DeleteThey'd be a case of "bread and bread", dear. No topping there... Jx
DeleteOh my goodness! I wasn't expecting that! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSx
Full of surprises, is our Frida! Jx
DeleteI can see where Prince got the inspiration for his Purple Rain get-up...
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Anni-Frid!
Bastard never gave her any credit... Jx
DeleteI commented before I watched the video. Crikey!
DeleteIndeed! Jx
DeleteThat's brilliant!!!! I don't think I ever saw anyone from before ABBA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a joy, isn't it?
DeleteThey all had successful careers before teaming up at Abba - for some more Frida, just click the tag at the foot of the post. Jx
You and Maddie both had ABBA on the mind today. I always enjoyed them. I too agree, I don't think I ever saw any of their pre-ABBA solo stuff.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, but I think the theme might be coincidental. Mine was a birthday tribute to Frida. Mistress Maddie's was, I believe, an exercise in taunting dear Anne-Marie (who apparently hates Abba for some reason)... Jx
DeleteThat was a treat.
ReplyDeleteFrida was adorable as ever but I think the boys should have had their own show.
As long as it didn't end up like Vicious... Jx
