Having heard this one on - of all places - the BBC's classical station Radio 3, I realised I hadn't featured our fave glamourpuss close-harmony girl band, the Puppini Sisters for a while.
Let's redeem that, shall we?
Not merely content with finding a video for that faboo cover of a classic, on my travels I also found this [surprisingly, given the format we became so familiar with in 2020-21, pre-pandemic] little gem:
Faboo!
Perfect for a laid-back Sunday [I'm in catch-up mode after a long and busy day yesterday, visiting Mother in Portsmouth], methinks...
Laadl-oodl. I love this music, yes, I think so! And I've never worn Walmart.
ReplyDeleteIn the first verse, it's "Primark" (a cheap clothier that we all wear in the UK - there's a branch in Malaga) but, I assume because they had an eye on the US market (where I doubt Primark exists) they changed it to "Walmart" afterwards. Since that doesn't exist here, I have no experience of the place - but I have heard it's as rough as rats, so I doubt I'm missing much. Jx
DeleteWe've even got a Primark in Fuengirola. Let's keep this between us: I bought two T-shirts.
DeleteI often say if it wasn't for Primark, I would be naked! It's not the highest quality, nor the classiest emporium, but it sells wearable clothing at super-cheap prices, so what the hell? Jx
DeleteWell, colour me surprised! That "Wuthering Heights" cover really is faboo!
ReplyDeleteLoved the "Is This The High Life?"song/video too.
Yay! Glad you enjoyed them.. Jx
DeleteSuch a fun rendition of "Wuthering Heights." And those outfits!
ReplyDeleteThe Puppini Sisters are style icons! Jx
DeleteI couldn't get over the skirts with the big poms on them. The poms make me think of cat toys. Hahaha
ReplyDeleteLet's just hope the theatre cat never made it to the stage. Mayhem! Jx
DeleteAdmire women who embrace a drag queen aesthetic.
ReplyDeleteI have actually met the Puppini Sisters, and it would be an easy mistake to make... Jx
DeleteNever heard ( or heard of) them, but that's not surprising...we are at the arse end of the world! Some good voices in there. (Am I going to date myself if I mention The Andrews Sisters? )
ReplyDeleteIf you were contemporaneous with The Andrews Sisters, then yes. Otherwise, no - we have at least one compilation of theirs (and The Boswell Sisters, and The Carlisle Cousins...).
DeleteI find it wonderful that the Puppini Sisters keep the flame burning for this kind of music! Jx
I'll shuffle off with my walking frame and go looking for more Puppini...hums "lay that pistol down, babe..."
ReplyDeleteHave a Rum and Coca-Cola, dearie. Jx
DeleteI adore the Puppini Sisters and ' The Carlisle Cousins'
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't?! Jx
