Then why am I wearing Walmart?

Having heard this one on - of all places - the BBC's classical station Radio 3, I realised I hadn't featured our fave glamourpuss close-harmony girl band, the Puppini Sisters for a while.

Let's redeem that, shall we?

Not merely content with finding a video for that faboo cover of a classic, on my travels I also found this [surprisingly, given the format we became so familiar with in 2020-21, pre-pandemic] little gem:

Faboo!

Perfect for a laid-back Sunday [I'm in catch-up mode after a long and busy day yesterday, visiting Mother in Portsmouth], methinks...

  1. Laadl-oodl. I love this music, yes, I think so! And I've never worn Walmart.

    1. In the first verse, it's "Primark" (a cheap clothier that we all wear in the UK - there's a branch in Malaga) but, I assume because they had an eye on the US market (where I doubt Primark exists) they changed it to "Walmart" afterwards. Since that doesn't exist here, I have no experience of the place - but I have heard it's as rough as rats, so I doubt I'm missing much. Jx

    2. We've even got a Primark in Fuengirola. Let's keep this between us: I bought two T-shirts.

    3. I often say if it wasn't for Primark, I would be naked! It's not the highest quality, nor the classiest emporium, but it sells wearable clothing at super-cheap prices, so what the hell? Jx

  2. Well, colour me surprised! That "Wuthering Heights" cover really is faboo!
Loved the "Is This The High Life?"song/video too.

  4. I couldn't get over the skirts with the big poms on them. The poms make me think of cat toys. Hahaha

  6. Never heard ( or heard of) them, but that's not surprising...we are at the arse end of the world! Some good voices in there. (Am I going to date myself if I mention The Andrews Sisters? )

    1. If you were contemporaneous with The Andrews Sisters, then yes. Otherwise, no - we have at least one compilation of theirs (and The Boswell Sisters, and The Carlisle Cousins...).

I find it wonderful that the Puppini Sisters keep the flame burning for this kind of music! Jx
