We had an utterly fantabulosa time at Pride in London yesterday!
Having decided that in the absence of our old "home base" The Shaston Arms [formerly Our Sal's pub - RIP], our somewhat depleted gang [neither Sal nor Lou could make it, and others had alternative plans for what they were doing for Pride] we would meet up in The Kings Head pub in Mayfair close to our favoured spot on Piccadilly near the Burlington Arcade, we had a comfortable few snifters before assuming positions.
As ever, our completely OTT outfits outshone just about anything on the parade/march itself! And so it was, as always, that we had more of the corporate-branded t-shirt-wearing participants taking photos of us than we took of them. It's a shadow of its former self, more's the pity, nowadays. So many boring t-shirts and so few creative costumes.
Speaking of the parade...
...and - we made it into The Guardian!
We and more than a million people thoroughly enoyed it!

Well, thank goodness for the military otherwise it would have just been you and your gang in fabulous costumes! (Okay, so theirs are uniforms - and I'm not keen on the brown ones - but at least they dressed up.) The Pink Mafia - It's no wonder you were papped so much! Fabulous!

DeleteIt was striking just how many of the groups who were allowed to march (we would have needed to register, get wristbands, and be given our place in the pecking order in the parade; when we've done that in the past we waited hours to even start moving) looked really dull and homogenous.
We're not "branded t-shirt" kind of people. Ever!
The whole thing needs a bloody good review. Why have a Pride at all if it's not free-form and open to all, like it always was? Not that any of this shit - nor even some of the dodgier politics creeping into the whole shebang - will prevent us from being there and being fabulous, of course! Jx
You all look fabulous but I have to say the fan hat is amazing! So wonderful to see. And you made it into The Guardian!!!

ReplyDeleteBravo again! And in my favorite color yet. As usual I agree... your gang makes the parade pale next to you guys. And the videos are great! I would have probably snagged, then shagged the first boy in the adulation video with the white tank and sunnies on taking your picture ...too yummy! Such a shame the parade committee can't shake the corporate bullshit.... the prides here seem to be making head way with that. Every Pride I'd been to this season saw corporate bullshit cut majorly. From our end, and their end. Many corporate sponsors are getting like crickets and good I say.

There was no shortage of gorgeous totty - boring t-shirts or otherwise - on show, my dear! Each and every one of them would be far better engaged paying proper tribute before my pinkness... 🤣 Jx

DeleteIt was a fabulous day, and we did indeed outshine the whole parade. As for the hat, it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but I got there in the end. I must take into acount the weight next time! 🙄🏳️🌈💃🎉
