Postscript:
Today also happens to be World Gin Day!
Clink, clink, dear reader...
Once again my Damehood must have got lost in the post. Bah!
ReplyDeleteStill, at least there's World Gin Day to fall back on. Although it'll take quite a few before there's any falling involved...
Mine, too, dear - I tried phoning the Palace but apparently they're all sunning their arses down Carbis Bay...
DeleteI hope your "Gin Corner" has plenty of soft, padded surfaces in case you're overcome by the tonic! Or something. Jx
My other half has recently taken up gin drinking and whiskey drinking. The gin I don't mind, but the smell of whiskey has me wondering if I've accidentally married my grandfather! I'll stick to my rums and wines.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll reach Damehood next year.
I like an occasional whisky (or brandy, or indeed dark rum), but Scotch does often have a disagreeable smell, I'll admit...
DeleteI'm banking my hopes on a Damehood in the New Year's Honours. Jx
Gin day... or as I call it... Friday and Saturday night. Kizzes. Oh. And Alison. Saw her a few years ago at the Fine Line... best concert ever. She was gorgeous, happy and engaged. I have never seen a veteran performer more engaged. I adored it. And it was one of the best I have ever seen. She deserves to be a dame, but back in the day.... would you ever have imagined??? Such a thing???
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Miss Moyet never imagined becoming a "national treaure"... Jx
DeleteOh. Favorite appearance... Alison on The French and Sanders Show. She totally ruled.
ReplyDeleteShe was their special guest in the very first ever episode of The French & Saunders Show, indeed! Jx
DeleteChampagne for Lu lu
ReplyDeleteor perhaps it should be
Gin.
A "French 75"..! Jx
DeleteSue Barker...didn't she make Cliff Richard look ever-so good and straight a few years back?
ReplyDeleteI haven't drunk gin since my Swiss Cottage days!
Oh, yes - she was the most famous of Sir Cliff's "beards". She's straight, it would appear, but definitely more butch than he ever was... Jx
DeleteDame Lulu!!! Did she only get a CBE? She should be a Dame.
ReplyDeleteSx
I agree! And poor old Engelbert only got an MBE. An MBE is what they give you for being school lollipop lady. Jx
