Tomorrow Never Dies

And so, farewell then, Mr Monty Norman.

Who?, I hear you ask.

If the man was mainly famous for just one thing, it was one helluva good one - for he composed this!

RIP, Monty Norman (born Monty Noserovitch, 4th April 1928 – 11th July 2022)

  1. Heard it on the news a few hours ago. Said to The Man..."So that's why they played the Bond Theme on Classic FM this morning."

    1. Good ol' Classic FM - the classical music station for people who don't actually like classical music! They need no excuses to play something from a pop genre. They do it all the time. Jx

  2. I've just been hearing all about him on the radio as well. Fascinating how the James bond theme came to be - it started out as an Indian tune!

  3. "I was born with an unlucky sneeze and worst of all I was born the wrong way round..." the original lyrics apparently. From a flop musical.

    I hate Classic FM!

    1. Most of Monty's theatrical productions - with the possible exception of Expresso Bongo [which unfortunately for the world gave Cliff Richard's career a boost], although only four of Mr Norman's songs survived from his stage musical score - were flops. Thank heavens for Cubby Broccoli, who recruited him to do the theme for his "new spy movie"... Jx

PS we rarely listen to Classic FM these days; it's either Radio 2, Radio 3 or Scala Radio for us.

  4. Even if he is not rememberer for anything else, the Bond theme is a worthy legacy.
I cant bear to listen to Classic FM either. If radio 3 is being to esoteric, then Scala is a much better alternative.
