This week has been particularly exhausting - notwithstanding the usual stresses of work, we have the Madam's sister and niece staying, and have been out drinking with them in the evenings as well. However, one last push and we'll be partying again to mark the end of another week!
Here in the UK we've just had National Curry Week, and Diwali is less than a fortnight away, so I thought a little "exotic" dance music might be in order - a song I adored when it first hit the charts forty years ago (gulp!)...
Disco ka shukr hai ki shukravar hai! *
Have a good weekend, my dears!
[* "Thank Disco It's Friday" in Hindi (I hope)]
I do love curry, especially Thai curry. It's 4:00 AM here in San Francisco and now I'm craving panang curry.
ReplyDeleteI love a good Lamb Dhansak, myself - or a Briyani.
DeleteNow I'm hungry, too... Jx
Curry week? I swear these days is a week for everything. But I do agree dear, this weekend did just in the nick of time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll make an excuse to have a curry by way of a belated celebration of the event. Jx
DeletePS Chicken Tikka Masala has been consistently voted "Britain's Favourite Dish", so I'm not surprised the restaurants have a "national week" of their own.
I don't remember "Ever So Lonely" the first time around (being barely seven years old), but I do remember Jakatta's version 20 years later (and bought their album).
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Jon!
Conversely, I don't remember Jakatta's version at all... Jx
DeleteWow. You remember songs you adored when you were only 2! And even then you had interesting tastes in music.
ReplyDeleteTWO?! Good grief, you flatterer!
DeleteI left school the year before this song... Jx
Why don’t I remember this tune?
ReplyDeleteI wondered why you left a comment on my blog at about 2am! You had been out on the razz!
Sx
My Friday in the office was a bit of a muzzy one... Jx
DeletePS This song was everywhere in 1982! You must have been distracted.
Often have a dahl for Saturday lunch. Back in the 60-70s Swiss Cottage had some damn' good Asian eateries, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been out for a curry since the one in our old locale became a casualty of the lockdowns. It turned itself into a piri-piri takeaway for some incomprehensible reason and subsequently closed for good.
DeleteOne thing I would advise anyone looking for a curry in London, however, is to avoid that "tourist-trap" of disappointing eateries that is Brick Lane. Had too many bad experiences to ever go back there. Jx
OMG 40 years ago !
ReplyDeleteLoved it then and love it now.
Ps
Who is Jakatta' ?
I know - where did those four decades go?! Jx
DeletePS No idea about "Jakatta". These young 'uns like Mr DeVice know all the new-fangled cover versions; we know the originals...
