Of gardens, new toys and power-ballads

I've knackered myself out today trying to do battle with the carpet of bastard sycamore seeds that are coating the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers (thanks to the neglect of tenants next door who have allowed this most evil of weed trees to grow unchecked in their garden). I even invested in a "new toy", a garden vacuum/leaf blower, and it's still a punishing task (and somewhat never ending, as no sooner is the paving cleared, more of the damn things helicopter down)!

Time to wind-down, methinks...

It's been a little while since I visited the lovely Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox for a bit of "Sunday Music", but my heavens! With this formidable diva on board, I'm very glad I did:

Yo, Mama!!

  2. What do you do with all the infernal seeds once you've gathered them all up? A year or so ago, I dumped the one's I'd swept up into the compost heap - A mistake, as they didn't rot down, and just sprouted when I spread the compost over the garden! Last autumn I got rid of them in the brown garden waste bin, but I'm thinking that this year I might burn them up at the allotment?

    1. The garden vacuum shreds as you go, so the resulting bag of dust goes straight into the bin! It's a great gadget, if a bit cumbersome... Jx

  4. I've seen two different touring teams of Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox live. So much fun. And he is such a cutey. Man, I'd sing like a diva two if I had him backing me up... oh, yeah. Kizzes.

  5. She is fabulous, gracious. I miss my garden and am so glad not to have to deal with it in about equal parts.

  6. I remember raking leaves in Connecticut. We’d think we were finished and the huge oak trees would start belly laughing and shake off another day of raking.

    1. At least palm trees are attractive! Sycamores have absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. Jx

Have been Googling for something in defence of the Sycamore, and found nothing!

PS Sycamore is horrible. Nobody would heap praise on it.
