Nothing like a good spanky

A casualty of the recent storms, this branch of beautiful Campanula medium ("Canterbury Bells") has thrived in a vase for over a week; the rest of the five-foot plant is mostly still in bud.

Still grey. Still grizzly. June's weather is proving to be a right bitch at the moment!

Never mind, eh? If we can't spend the day pottering in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers, we have the joys of BBC Radio 2 to keep our spirits up. Being Sunday, their usual "playlist" of dull young things like Jess Glynne, Lewis Capaldi, Jack Savoretti and so on gives way to showtunes, nostalgia and mellowness - and here's something that couldn't get more mellow if it tried...

Ah. Sunday.

  1. What's she looking at in that video? Cue cards/teleprompter? It's mildly unnerving (as is the drummer who looks like he can barely stand being there). I should've just looked at your stunning Campanula instead.

  2. I did enjoy the interlude while fixing my breakfast.....but I do enjoy myself some Jess Glynne too. I also think I might quite enjoy one of the striped jumpsuits for around the Casa du Borghese.

    1. I find Miss Glynne somewhat maudlin, but each to their own. As for the jumpsuits... Eeek! Jx

  3. Is the drummer wearing a mask? He has a barely there face.
    Nice tune though.

  4. Erm.... You know I said that summer would be here on the 20th June? Well, the timing has been revised and summer is not coming in the foreseeable future. Good luck for next week. I know where you can buy really cheap wellies, and buckets, should you need them.

  5. I used to spend quite a few Sundays wandering around Hampstead and I NEVER wandered into that lot! Thank goodness!

    1. I doubt they travelled that far from their native Chicago, nor likely be able to point to Hampstead on a map.

That Campanula has proved to be quite the star this year! It reached no more than about a foot last year, now it's a behemoth. You may not be able to grow it, but there are zillions of hot tropical plants that we'd love to grow, but can't, that are rampant in your area... Jx
