Getting ready for anything, whole body glittering

Oh, such relief is in sight. One of the most dismal weeks ever is over and, even though there is still another seven days to go before we get paid, at least the skies are blue and the sun is shining. For a change.

Another reason to throw a party is that those notorious "anti-scene-queens" Sink The Pink - described on their website thus...
"An antidote to the soulless mega clubs, we’re a collective of queens, club kids, pop superstars, creative juggernauts, flamboyant dancers, and acclaimed designers."
...have a new recruit. It's none other than "Sporty Spice" herself, Miss Melanie C!

Thank Disco It's Friday!

I'll be dancing home tonight
With my high heels in my hand
I'll be dancing home tonight
With my high heels in my hand

(Because)

It's been five weeks since I started saving for my new shoes
They're coming out of the box tonight, they're gonna wow you
It's been seven hours since I played the same tune in my room (In my room)
Getting ready for anything, whole body glittering
Counting down the minutes
But the time's flown by

We've been going all night and my feet haven't touched the ground
When the music stops playing, it's not going to get me down

(Because)

I'll be dancing home tonight
With my high heels in my hand
I'll be dancing home tonight
With my high heels in my hand

I'm still feeling ten foot high
Keep this feeling my whole life
I'll be dancing home tonight
With my high heels in my hand

Brilliant stuff.

Have a shiny weekend, and keep your high heels in your hand!

  1. Or all the spices, I’ve recently developed a particular liking for Sporty. .

    1. Potentially, she's the best singer (albeit to date, having been given the wrong material). Jx

  2. I think I like Emma's stuff best, but Mel C is a close second.
    Have a fab weekend, Jon!

    1. Emma can hold a choon, but her voice is a bit "nondescript". There's nothing much there to distinguish her from, say, Mandy Moore, Natalie Imbruglia or Nelly Furtado, for example. On the other hand, you can spot Mel C's voice even through the Spice Girls harmonies. Jx

    2. Yeah, I hear what you're saying, but Mel's voice can sometimes grate on me a bit - because it does stand out. I liked Emma's sixties phase. I like the songs she chooses to sing.

    3. Me too - I loved her cover of Edie Brickell's What I Am. Jx

  3. Yellow does nothing for me, and that pink is too pouffy, so you shall recognise me in the parakeet blue acetate taffeta number with filmy nylon sheer floating on top.
I won't be dancing as the generated heat and static electricity will bring the place down!

    1. P. S. Posh Spice was always my favourite, despite being common as muck.

    2. I sincerely hope, unlike those strumpets, you will be wearing white gloves with your gown.

PS Posh was always the odd-looking one, and she never actually sang (presumably because she sounded like Ross Kemp)...
