'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
And so, farewell then Dame Vera Lynn, aged 103 - the last living embodiment of that "Wartime Spirit" that binds this plucky nation together in times of crisis.
Indeed, her "anthem" became somewhat of a morale-booster throughout this current coronavirus lockdown...
If there's not a state funeral, there'll be Hell to pay!
RIP, Dame Vera Margaret Lynn CH DBE OStJ (née Welch; 20th March 1917 – 18th June 2020)

At least she made it to VE day, bless her. My Aunt was the spit of Vera and was once ushered up the red carpet outside the London Palladium, sadly my aunt wasn't such a good singer.

She made it to VE Day and - thank goodness - didn't end up in one of those risky care homes so badly affected by the virus...
DeleteI bet your Auntie loved regaling people with that story - she must have been the toast of the Whist Drive!
