I need a shower...

...preferably with the lovely Warwick Rowers! [See here and here for more]

While listening to Erasure, of course:

How appropriate. Despite the breeze, it's still blazing out there...

FOOTNOTE:

Erasure, alongside (among others) Neneh Cherry, Sinéad O'Connor, Fine Young Cannibals, Deborah Harry & Iggy Pop, The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl, Annie Lennox, Thompson Twins, k.d. lang, U2, Jimmy Somerville and Lisa Stansfield recorded songs composed by Cole Porter (and the accompanying videos) as a benefit for AIDS charity Red Hot. Released in 1990, the project was appropriately titled Red Hot + Blue, and it sold over a million copies worldwide.

A reminder, perhaps, that COVID-19 is not the first global pandemic we have experienced in our lifetime.

  1. Lashing down here! I imagine it must be raining in the South East by now? It's still hot though and I might go and stand in the garden.
Glad the heat is going off the boil as I was getting really, really ratty.
    Erasure - brilliant, as per.

    1. It's cool and misty here in the East. I think we're getting your rain tomorrow?

    2. We had a dark cloud and ten minutes of rain around 4pm that promptly evaporated. Still no sign of the storms - maybe my hex has made them skip over London altogether and head for Cromer? Jx

  2. And wasn't there a lot to see "here and here"! Although, there could have been more, but that would have left nothing to the imagination...

I was totally unaware of Erasure's "Too Darn Hot" - In 1990, I think I'd only just started to become aware of them (I seem to remember liking "A Little Respect", "Stop!" and "Drama!"), but it wasn't until Chorus was released in 1991 that I became a fan and retroactively sought out earlier singles/albums, but I obviosuly missed TDH.

    1. As far as I can gather, only Neneh Cherry's version of I've Got You Under My Skin was released as a single. I remember some of the videos - probably from Gaytime TV or similar; I doubt MTV would have touched them (far too gay for those rednecks) - k.d. lang's So in Love made me cry. Jx

  4. Love Erasure.

Thanks for making me aware of this album. It sounds like the Noel Coward tribute a few years later

    1. Twentieth-Century Blues (the Noel Coward covers album) is one of our favourites in our collection - worth it for The Divine Comedy I've Been to a Marvellous Party alone! Jx

  5. Welcome back, I'm sorry I missed yesterday's post, but I'm glad you had a steamy time

I'm trying not to let the different attitudes people in general and the media in particular are having about the two plagues irritate me too much. What else could I have expected?

    1. Of course - when it's a plague that affects your Grandma or your kiddies, then it's all hands on deck. If it's just those dirty gays, then sod 'em. I remember it well... Jx

  6. The perfect song of the moment.
    Love Erasure, adore Cole Porter
I don't remember seeing the video before though.
