Of orchids, concrete and twirls

We are proud parents to FORTY baby Cymbidium orchid flowers this year!

With all that elegance on show, what better way to celebrate than with a bit of Soft Tempo Lounge?

Ah, that's better (despite all that ghastly brutalist London architecture)...

  2. Such throaty little fellas. Reminds me of... well, me. Gulp. Yep, put it in the big mouth! As for those ladies... they move like moths and what a lovely theme. And a great time period for fashion... so unsure of itself. Kizzes.

  3. Your orchids are gorgeous, sweetpea! I've never managed to keep one alive after the blooms die off, but you're an inspiration. I think I start off with a Phalaenopsis. Wish me luck! xoxo

    1. Cymbidiums are rather straightforward to keep, as they don't actually like jungle humidity and don't need sub-tropical temperatures.

They're more than happy in the UK being outside from April/May to October/November (depending on whether frosts are around in Spring or autumn, as they don't want that degree of cold), and kept in an unheated room indoors through winter while they develop their buds [central heating can make the buds drop]. They actually need a big fall between daytime and nighttime temperatures (and light levels) in autumn to get them to send up a flower spike in the first place.

Not sure how they'd cope with LA's climate, though. Jx

  4. Did you recently inherit these, or are they existing you've had? They are so stunning. I, alas, seem to be an orchid murderer. I have them for some time while blooming, then once all the blooms are gone, I get very impatient waiting for blooms again, and either give them away or they get tossed.

  5. A peek indoors!!
My Orchid is still alive, I think, but has yet to bloom again since 2018. I need help.

    1. Cymbidiums are easy - bung them outside from May to October/November, and they thrive. Jx

PS I see that Soft Tempo Lounge video's gone already - will need to fix that on our return...
