Heavens! As we adjust to that fact that another weekend has just whizzed by and the bloody alarm's gone off again - on this Tacky Music Monday it appears that the mighty Cher has wandered into a gay sauna and decided to sing and dance some reggae numbers with the boys..!

That's some raggedy reggae. I wonder what Cher thinks when she watches these old clips (or maybe she doesn’t watch them). NIce asses... I MEANT... Nice dancers. It's fun to see how body types go in and out of fashion. The slender '70s.

I still have a Nokia phone, so it mattered not an iota to me - however we were having Sunday lunch in a pub at the the time, and the hullabaloo as everyone in the entire place scrabbled to switch it off was rather amusing! Jx
DeleteIt sounds so unlike Reggae I don't think it can even qualify as cultural appropriation. It says "Reggae Medley" and a medley is really just something with a bunch of stuff in it and only a pittance of whatever prized ingredient is supposed to be in it. I got a "Cashew trail mix medley" a couple of weeks ago and there were maybe five halves of cashew pieces, and the rest was cheaper filler ingredients. Never trust a medley to be honest.
ReplyDelete"Cultural appropriation" is such an ugly modern construct. Basically it constricts art into silos, to its very detriment.
DeleteCher, on the other hand, had no shame when it came to referring to what she actually performed as being from any genre she chose, for - as you say - it bore little resemblance to its roots. It was, is, and will ever be Cher's world, and we merely inhabit it! 😎 Jx
