Just don't stutter, OK?

Its His Majesty the King's first - and the UK's first with a King on the throne since 1950 - State Opening of Parliament today, aka "The King's Speech".

A spurious enough reason to feature this long-forgotten 80s gem, methinks?

Enjoy...

  1. I remember this song, I always liked it, but I don't think I ever knew the title of it. Of course, I was so little in the loop, I thought the Thompson Twins really were twins whose last name was Thompson.

    1. I loved the Thompson Twins - so quirky! The fact that the band consisted of one white man, one black man and a woman, which completely contradicted the band's name (named after characters from Tintin, fyi), made them even quirkier. Jx

    1. They had their "moment in the sun", but it didn't outlive the 1980s. Tom Bailey's the only member left nowadays, and has joined that eternal "nostalgia circuit" (Rewind Festival and so on), performing the group's back-catalogue. Jx

  4. If the Thompson Twins shaved all their hair off, I bet they could make at least five cloak-trains (or whatever it's called that King Charles is draped in)!

  5. The sovereign's orb reminds me of a Christmas pudding.

  6. I love fuzzy fabrics and velvet. I just want to roll around on the plush cape train thing like an annoying cat. I like this song too!

    1. I could just see the headlines: "Crazy American Cat-Lady arrested by the Household Cavalry"! Jx

    1. At least you got the reference!

It's always good to hear The Thompson Twins again, every now and then. Jx
