Eclectic viewing...

...at our "film club day" at John-John's yesterday!

This all-time John Waters classic:

A bit of this, the show that launched Alan Cumming on an unexpecting world:

This brand new slice of genius from Aardman Animations [home of Wallace and Gromit]:

And, best of all, this!

A remarkable film - all the more so for the unexpected (and excellent) presence of one of our house faves here at Dolores Delargo Towers, more well-known for her singing than acting prowess...

A great way to spend "that bit in the middle", I'd say!

  1. Kathleen Turner as Serial Mom was hilarious. I had forgotten all about that.

    1. The late 80s/early 90s "trilogy" of Hairspray, Cry Baby and Serial Mom are consistently in the upper echelons of our list of favourite films!

Let's face it, however, anything Kathleen Turner appears in is greatly improved by her presence. Jx

  2. Wow, what a selection! I love Serial Mom - I must find it out as I haven't seen it in ages. And Romancing the Stone, too.

I don't know if I could watch Glass Onion as Daniel Craig's accent pulled me right out of the trailer. It's baffling! Still, I'll happily listen to "Make Me Feel".

    1. You do get used to Mr Craig doing a "cod-New-Orleans" accent, even if it seems incongruous - and it's definitely worth it, for the film is really gripping! [I assume you've already seen Knives Out, the first outing for his "Benoit Blanc" character..?] jx

    2. No, Knives Out passed me by - although I'll give it a go if it appears on iPlayer.
I haven't really been up on new films over the past year or two - the last film I saw at the cinema was Thor: Love and Thunder.

    3. Knives Out was released in 2019, dear. [Admittedly we only caught up with it this time last year.] Jx

  3. Excellent choices all around, but I agree with Device, Daniel Craig's fake accent is so bad I can't watch him abuse his mouth with it.

    1. It works fine once you get into the story... Jx

  4. I'd watch Daniel Craig with the sound down and then picture him in that Bond bathing suit and ... yeah, that's it.

    1. He does spend a lot of time in the bath in Glass Onion, if that helps... Jx

  5. That "Knives" clip looks amusing. Here in this far-flung corner of Empire, we had 007 movies(beginning with Sean C) every night in the weeks up to Christmas, so I might save Mr Craig's yanky-hanky-panky til later...

    1. We haven't seen a Bond film in years! They're probably all in the schedules somewhere, but we're picky... Jx
