The new old-fashioned way?

Shit. Monday again.

Having had a productive weekend's pottering, I could have done with just one more day to relax - but no! "Happy days are here again"....

Never mind, eh? Loathe though I am to play anything that celebrates the Festering Season, it is the 79th birthday today of Miss Brenda Lee, and the 65th anniversary of her classic seasonal hit, AND she has just (for the first time) hit #1 with it on the US Billboard Chart [largely thanks to this video] - so it would be curmudgeonly of me not to play this crock'o'shit on a Tacky Music Monday, wouldn't it?!

Forgive me.

Have a good one, dear reader.

    1. I agree. Bah Humbug! However, I thought the opportunity to see 78-year-old Miss Lee almost having her wig knocked off at a party was an opportunity too good to miss... Jx

    2. Mercifully, we didn't have TV when she had her "Sweet Nothin's" hit!

  2. Still more pleasant than Mariah. Where did that scream clip come from? It's hilarious.

    1. Anything is better than Mariah-fucking-Carey's caterwauling! Jx

PS No idea about the gif - just something I found at random from Tumblr.

  3. god love her. actually she hit number one twice before this on the charts with her hits "I'm Sorry" and "I Want to Be Wanted" both back in 1960. this one originally went to number 14 . i would assume she holds the record now for longest gap between number ones.

  4. Is It True My Love... Oh Oh is a favourite of mine, I think it could replace Sweet Caroline Uh Uh Uhh on the Costa. I'm only familiar with BL because my mother loved her (not in a lesbian way). She sang it live recently wearing the same red dress and wig, I was quite impressed with her performance.

    1. Oh heavens, yes - the Costas are the last home of the dead and decaying hitmakers of the 1950s, 60s and 70s... Jx

  5. Happy Birthday and Congratulations to Brenda Lee. I don't mind Christmas music in moderation as long as I don't have to work in retail and listen to the same tracks playing over and over. And over.

    And over.
    Love,

    1. I cursed out loud the first time I heard Wham, Mariah and Paul McCartney's execrable "seasonal" offerings. I would probably run amok with an Uzi if I was forced to listen to them all day.... Jx
