The glamorous life

Whew! What a scorcher. Just in time to be that little bit too late, we are in a heatwave here in London [and I work in an office with NO aircon]!

Never mind, eh? We need some escapism - so here's a well overdue little light music interlude - and a gawp at some truly funky outfits - courtesy to the faboo Soft Tempo Lounge. Yeah, Baby, Yeah!

Wow.

  1. I'm not keen on powder blue, that colour is reminiscent of old man's slacks, white shoes and Nye Bevan dentures.

I was waiting for the zou bisou bisou to kick in, then I realised it's a completely different tune, it's the heat. I enjoyed it regardless, men were so good looking in those days.

    1. None of those colours should be used for clothing. Flannels or towels, maybe.

That tune sounds like loads of other of the era, so it's an easy mistake to make. Woolworths' "easy listening" LP section at its zenith. Men were certainly much hairier in the 1970s! Jx

  2. It was warm here too. My sweat beads were sweating.

    1. On the hottest day of the year so far, we had a "three-line-whip" in-person meeting of the whole team (sixteen of us attended) in a meeting-room with no air-con, just fans and a window, that lasted four hours. I think I lost about a gallon in sweat...

If those sort of conditions were found by inspectors in a kennel or cattery, it would be closed down and the owners fined! Jx

  3. I had a thick polyester skirt and matching top from M&S in that powder green colour. It came with a matching elasticated belt with a three pronged clip - all the rage in 1973! Ah, the memories!

    1. Thick polyester? Do you mean the dreaded Crimplene?! I am forever traumatised by that stuff - if I brush against a Crimplene garment in a charity or vintage shop, I recoil in horror... Jx

    2. Not quite! But bordering on Crimplene! Doesn't bear thinking about in this weather. What about brushed nylon sheets? Remember them?!! Ugh.

    3. I remember the adverts for Brentford Nylons, featuring Alan "Fluff" Freeman from Radio 1..! Jx

    4. Yep, I remember those ads! All that electrical static - nasty stuff.

    5. Terrible idea - and painful shocks, too! Jx

  4. Love it but I remember the fad for matching pastel colours. I favoured mint green and still have nightmare flash backs.
