Sigh, indeed.
Monday comes around so quickly - especially when the weekend was a complete washout.
As we gird our loins for another week of unbridled joy in work, it's worth noting that it would have been the birthday of a remarkable (and oft-overlooked) favourite lady here at Dolores Delargo Towers, Miss Della Reese!
We adore her "Cha-Cha-Cha" album (of course), and her appearance alongside fellow divas Ethel Merman, Ann Miller and Carol Channing on The Love Boat is the stuff of legend - see my post on the sad occasion of her departure for Fabulon for that - but on this occasion, it's to her venture into the world of Scopitone we turn for a true Tacky Music Monday treat!
Have a good week, dear reader.
Have a lovely week - unbridled or otherwise!

You, too, dear! Jx
DeleteWe saw her perform in Palm Springs in a tiny club in her later years. I used to really like her, but must admit that show was nothing to write home about (to say the least).
ReplyDeleteBy her later years, she was an ordained minister with her head in the Bible, so I am not surprised. Jx
DeleteWhere or where did the four days go?!?!? I'm already counting down the days till the next two trips. Can I make it 4 weeks till the next one? But sunny and HOT HOT HOT here this weekend, even in the mountains which were considerably cooler. We needed some Della to cool things off. I got back last evening, and even the garden is now gasping for air, and the Fushia are all but dried up. The first casualties of the season as always.
ReplyDeleteLucky old you - it was peeing down with rain most of this weekend here. The garden was battered (the phlox in particular were bent double), but most plants don't seem to mind - and our fuchsias are flourishing.
DeleteWe only have just over five weeks to go before we're in Amsterdam again..! Jx
Love her to bits, love the Scopitone video and just adore her voice.
ReplyDeleteA woman not to be messed with methinks.
She looks like she could punch really hard. Jx
Deleteimagine a mud fight with her and 'La Bassey'. Who would win ?
DeleteI think I know the answer to that question.
Dame Shirl was born in Cardiff. Enough said. Jx
DeleteLoved her acting, love her voice. And I agree - she could probably mess a bitch up.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably for very good reason she was cast as BA Baracus's mother in The A-Team! Jx
DeleteShe had a voice for sure! Certainly not a woman to triffle with, sweetpea! xoxo
ReplyDeleteShe had the most marvellous voice, indeed! Jx
