Day-O, day-ay-ay-O!

Is this Ms Scarlet, doing "a lot of side-to-side stepping and arm movement"? We should be told!

Whoopee! The weekend is almost upon us...

We have a smattering of sunshine here at the moment, which is always cheerful (albeit for a shorter and shorter time, as the nights draw in) - but to really lift our spirits, we need a proper burst of summertime, courtesy of LOBO!

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Cheesy or what?

Have a great weekend, my leetle chums!

    3. I saw her doing that dance back behind my salix, naughty Scarlet. She really gets that thing moving. It's impressive!

    4. I do hope "behind my salix" is not a euphemism. Jx

    6. Just crank up the wireless and leave 'em "side-stepping and waving their arms". They'll be fine. Jx

    2. And Blue Peter really featured that?!? Blimey.

Bugs sounds a bit different than I remembered.

    3. I can't remember how or why we got to see that "video", but Blue Peter used to feature stuff that didn't just have presenters in it - they had a regular cartoons Bengo (the Boxer pup) and Bleep and Booster for several years - so it's possible. However, I think this must have been early, rather than late 70s (as the uploader says) as I am sure I was just a kid when I first saw it. Jx

    1. Oh Lordy! Your next post is going to be all about the "Four Horsemen" and their "pet old lady" having some mishap involving roller skates, a rustic garden ornament and a heap of mulch - I can see it now! Jx

    2. "We cross now to our naughtcultural experts, Jon and FN for some advice on things NOT to attempt in gardening..."

    3. I somehow can't imagine Christine Walkden on roller skates - but then again, she has done gardening while abseiling down a cliff... Jx

  4. The best disco was always cheesy. The early days were the most amazing... just jaw dropping stuff... so naïve. Once the Miami sound took over, it lost that innocence. But until then? So fun.

    1. I wasn't around in its early days - but the suggestions of "what was the first Disco record" are many and varied, depending on what source you read. In the obituaries for David Mancuso of "The Loft" fame, names bandied about included MFSB, Manu Dibango, Nuyorican Soul and Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. Other people cite the "Soul/Funk" era artists such as George MacRae, Hues Corporation, the O'Jays, Harold Melvin, Biddu Orchestra, Van McCoy and so on. Take your pick... Jx
