Help?

Yup. Back to the commute...

The weekend was a bit of a non-event - which was not unwelcome, given the rather hectic "social calendar" of late - thanks to the arse end of Storm Bert [basically gusty winds and showers that rather prevented any gardening; or anything, really]. Now we're back in "Groundhog Day" again.

Hey ho. How about a celebration?

That titan of power-pop, the late, dearly-departed Miss Tina Turner would have been 85 years old tomorrow! She always seemed to enjoy her collaborations with fellow entertainment goddess Cher - but, on this Tacky Music Monday, who invited the producer's Auntie to the dressing-up box??

Have a good week, dear reader.

  3. OMFG what a find ! Love it love it.
The Beatles songs are always better sung by other people and this was a Joy.

Dear Ms Scarlet; I know what you mean but for me she is a mixture of Dorothy Squires and an Ethel Merman impersonator with a touch of Mollie Sugden thrown in just for fun. I love her !

  4. What an odd trio. Who came up with that idea??? They must have been hard pressed. Kate had her own television show for years (sort of like Ed Sullivan) where she would introduce talent. Never cared for her voice - that vibrato! Nor her blind allegiance, but then, she knew who buttered her bread. As for Tina... wow. It was an odd time in her career. Any port in a storm. Thanks for sharing, hon.

    1. We were spared Kate Smith in the UK (and Ed Sullivan, too), thankfully. Her voice was like a foghorn.

As for Tina, she had to wait a while before she (thanks to the Brits - Martin Ware, Rupert Hine, Chinn & Chapman and Mark Knopfler) reclaimed her rightful place at the top of the entertainment tree - so thanks to Cher for helping her pay the bills, I say! Jx
