Well shoot, I guess we can't make him president of the United States. He certainly is easy on the eyes, and I imagine a nice voice too. I was not aware of him, so this is nice, these pictures remembering him in his younger days.
He was an utterly gorgeous man - though apparently a bit of a "bad boy", mixing with mobsters and the like. I'd have forgiven him anything with just one flutter of those eyes... Jx
He was the first "Mr Ripley" in Plein Soleil (decades before Matt Damon), and starred in numerous works by Visconti and Antonini (among many others) - his best role was probably in The Leopard - but didn't do many English-language films. Of those, the only notable ones (in my opinion) were The Yellow Rolls-Royce (which was a fave when I was younger, and was always on the telly over Xmas/New Year (and probably still is!)), and the notorious Girl on a Motorcycle with Marianne Faithfull.
He could have sat in front of a camera reading from the telephone directory, to be honest, and he'd still be mesmerising. Jx
Ooh, yeah. I had a major crush.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd have to be made of stone not to! Jx

You're welcome, Ms Scarlet!
DeleteAlthough I'd heard of him, I don't think I've ever seen anything he's in, but he was certainly very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHe lit up the screen in every film he was in!
