I'm completely in the dark! I think it was probably screened in the land of Oz, but we missed it. I'd have watched it for the late great Dame Maggie! Someone told me it was "like Upstairs, Downstairs."
Upstairs Downstairs and Brideshead Revisited were hugely influential on Downton Abbey, that much is true - but there's something about the character development and "soap opera" plots in Downton Abbey that were key to its popularity. If you liked Gosford Park (by the same writer Julian Fellowes), you'd love it! Jx
I think I can agree with that quote too dear. This is on my list to see. But I may wait this one out till it hits On Demand.
ReplyDeleteOh, all that sumptuousness deserves a big screen, believe me! Our local cinema does tickets for £5.99, so we jumped at it... Jx
DeleteI can't wait!!!!

Hope you'll get to see it soon! How far is your nearest cinema? Barnstaple? Jx
DeleteA true statement. I agree.
ReplyDeleteThere's loads of quotable quotes (inevitably) from this movie...

PS I actually bumped into the gorgeous actor who played Noel Coward in the film in Sainsbury's supermarket in Islington today - and complimented him on his role!
