There's not, I think, a single episode of Dallas that I did not see

The prettier one, always in the background...

With the sad news that co-founder member of one of my personal fave 80s synth-pop bands Blancmange Stephen Luscombe has ascended that neon-lit, dry-ice-and-poppers-shrouded stairway to the great "Some Bizzare" stage on Fabulon - let's wallow [and I need very little prompting to delve into my 1980s heyday, bien sûr] in just a few of the band's most memorable musical moments, shall we?

[Don't tell John-John, but I prefer their cover version to Abba's original!]

RIP, Stephen.

  1. Didn’t you just mention Blancmange recently? Never on my radar.

    1. I quite possibly did! The early '80s was my era, so I am always harking back there... Jx

  2. Until much too recently, I always had them confused with the Thompson twins. I know, I know

  3. Oh, we had a discussion about the Abba cover on my blog, I think? A couple of years back? I don't have the wherewithal to find it right now, but maybe later! Did Erasure cover it as well?
    Anyhow - gone too soon.

    1. It sounds like something that would come up in one of your comment threads! 😊

Erasure did do an EP of Abba covers: Lay All Your Love on Me, SOS, Take a Chance on Me and Voulez-Vous - and they also covered Gimme Gimme Gimme - but not this one, as far as I'm aware. Jx

  4. Another sad loss.
Living on the ceiling still gets played on the wireless but the others not so much, which is a shame.
    I love all of them.

    1. Agreed - they are somewhat overlooked. I shall have to have a word with Gary Davies for his Sounds of the 80s! Jx
