Having spent most of my fortnight's leave slogging in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers - just about every pot and trough of perennials and every one of our (surviving) fuschias has been lifted and planted into brand new compost; we've got through at least six bags of the stuff - the weather today is really quite grotty, so I'm having a "rest day" in preparation for the horror looming on Monday, when I'm back to work.
Needless to say, all our dreams are pinned on the vagaries of winning the Lottery, and jetting off to somewhere exotic and fabulously stylish...
....in the company of a (dearly-departed) Dame and her E-Type Jag, perhaps?
Ah, that's better.
[Music: Vast Resources by Jan Kimberly. Original film: Minikillers (1969)]
How does she make a kerchief look sexy? Being of stout proportions and accustomed to hard labor, when I wear a kerchief people assume I'm from the Eastern bloc and about to pound them into bread dough. Mwhahaha.
ReplyDeleteDame Diana had an innate sense of style like no other... Jx
DeleteHow lovely. That photo in the boat. When I saw your post from my feed, I thought... oh, vintage barbie? Then I thought it was a modern take by some pop star. But no - it is the love Diana Rigg. Did you ever see her in A Little Night Music? I need to find that film version with Elizabeth Taylor. The soundtrack was surprisingly lovely. And Riggs was point on. Oh... you and the lottery. Well. I am back to work on Monday, too. But to soften the blow I went on-line and worked a bit on Thursday... just so my expectations are in line and I am not overwhelmed. Good luck with it, hon.
ReplyDeleteTo my ultimate shame, I have never seen the film version of A Little Night Music! I believe Liz was rather slagged-off for doing her own vocals, as I recall. We only saw Dame Diana on stage in one production - alongside Rupert Everett and a young Kara Toiton - in Pygmalion in the West End ten years ago... Jx
DeleteThat's the way our life should be.
ReplyDeleteA headscarf, an open-top sports car and gorgeous sunny locations. I think so! Jx
DeleteWhat the hell did she do to Poirot to make him arch an eyebrow???
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, that fortnight went a bit quick didn't it?
Sx
Mr Ustinov's Poirot was a somewhat more expressive character than Mr Suchet's.
DeleteThis fortnight has whizzed by! And I can guarantee that the next three weeks leading up to the May Day bank holiday will drag like lead... Jx
