Where the party always started

Another dull, dark week is sloping slowly to its conclusion. We're sick of the sight of Ursula von der Leyen and Emmanuel Macron, as well as Kay Burley, Greta Thunberg and that orange twat squatting in the White House. Shit carols and Mariah-fucking-Carey are unavoidable, it looks increasingly likely London's going into "tier three" COVID restrictions in time for the Festering Season, and we're wearing black armbands in mourning for the lovely Babs Windsor - what we really need is a party!

What better way to imagine such a thing than with a classic number from the late, great Dan Hartman (who would have been 70 years old this week), accompanied by a video of a semi-naked Ryanne Phillippe cavorting in the decadence of Studio 54?

Thank Disco It's Friday, indeed!

Have a good weekend, dear reader!

  1. WOW!! I think I missed that movie! But, then again, I missed the disco Age, so why not miss the movie, too? xoxo Happy weekend to you, sweetpea! xoxo

    1. How could anyone miss the era of Disco? I've not seen the movie either, to be honest, just these rather sexy clips - however it was well-received at the time (1999), as I recall. Jx

  2. Have a good weekend, Jon! Despite restrictions - anyhow it's going to be raining - who wants to go outside?

    1. It's mild and murky here, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that the rain holds off. The government is apparently not going to be making a decision on new restrictions till Wednesday, so I hope nothing kicks in till after then as I have booked the final outing of Polari for 2020 that night... 3. Like Savvy, I haven't seen 54 either. Although I'm not sure how I managed to miss it?? And bugger Ryan Philippe - well, you know what I mean - I've just seen that the adorable Breckin Meyer is in it! And Mark Ruffalo...

Keep the telly off (and any radio stations that might feature the news), load up the stereo and Happy Weekend!

    1. I was trying to work out why I had missed seeing it, too, until I realised that 1999 was the year we moved to London - so, understandably, I might have been a bit preoccupied with house-hunting and finding a new job... Jx

PS Our weekends tend to be entirely dictated by Radio 2 so news bulletins are unavoidable, but easy enough to ignore among the babble in the background.

  4. I loved Studio 54...one of my favorite songs off of the album is the cover of "If You Could Read My Mind"...fun fun fun music. And yes Ryan Philippe.

    1. Oh, yes! I love that version of the song - the combined talents of Ultra Naté, Amber and Jocelyn Enriquez [never heard of the latter two before, or since] as "Stars on 54"... Jx

  5. 'fraid I'm in the non-disco camp, too.
I wasn't bothered about the getting old malarkey...but bloody hell! They're people I knew and some not much older than moi!
But it's raining so as soon as it's light enough I'll get out there and give 'em all my Gene Kelly act!
