Grrrrr! Another (chilly, according to the forecast) week begins.
But at least I am getting in the swing of the season. For today is the celebration of everyone's favourite horny demon with a thirteen-inch tongue - Krampus! A feared monster of Old European Yuletide folklore, he punishes naughty children, swatting them with switches and rusty chains before dragging them, in baskets, to a fiery place below. He's a kindred spirit.
And on this Tacky Music Monday, here's a jolly little ditty by way of a celebration (and to wake us all up):
Have a good week, dear reader.
More Krampus here
I love claymation. I just hope that ditty doesn’t stick in my head throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteI can just see you singing "Krampus, Krampus" as you wander along the paseo, frightening the children 😀 Jx
DeleteI'm familiar with the Krampus from watching a disturbing episode of Inside Number 9 called The Devil of Christmas with the lovely Rula Lenska.
ReplyDeleteAnother series that completely passed me by - probably just as well, given the controversy about that particular episode... Jx
DeleteI saw that - but have just had to look it up to remind myself! Yep, a bit dark - I might have to watch it again.
DeleteI also recommend Inside No.9 - the episodes are often genius.

Meanwhile, I am actually in the mood for a traditional Christmas. I have been buying socks, aftershave, and annuals, and I am looking forward to my yearly dose of Slade - very strange for me - maybe it's because the weather has turned and I have a roaring fire in the log burner.

I find the whole Xmas "thing" completely tiresome. Bah Humbug! Roll on New Year... Jx
DeletePoor old Krampus puts up with a lot of stick, but he provides a much needed service. Two, if you count the one he can do with his tongue, too...
ReplyDeleteI've invited him round... Jx
DeleteWhat a coincidence! Me too!
DeleteWell, I thought it might serve two purposes - get rid of the increasing load of "demon children" accruing around our abode, and... Jx
DeleteI have no religious affiliations, but I rather like the idea of scaring the pants of naughty little buggers.Oh, wait...
ReplyDeleteHee hee! Me too. Jx
DeleteKrampus is so much fun. They did a bit of a botch-up with the movie... I dunno... I want more sly evil and less thunderous house destroying monster. Same goes for the holidays themselves!
ReplyDeleteI imagined the film would be dreadful. Stick to the legends, I say. Jx
DeleteHere comes Krampus,
ReplyDeleteDear old Krampus,
Right down Krampus Lane
Ho Ho Ho
Bah Humbug. Jx
