No-so-dumb blonde

"I had a tremendous amount of gay friends, so my whole life was basically like that... I never noticed who was gay or who was straight."

"Don't tell me I can't do that. Watch me. Don't tell me I can't direct this movie. Watch me."

"During the era when women were burning their bras - which, by the way, they never actually did - but when women were first becoming liberated, I was 23. And I met a woman who asked, 'Don't you feel bad because you're sort of acting like the stupid airhead blonde?' And I totally surprised myself. I said, 'Liberation can also come from the inside.'"

"It's nice for a woman to go out and have her own money and her own ability to do what she wants."

The magnificent, effervescent Miss Goldie Hawn is 75 years old today!

All hail.

Goldie Jeanne Hawn (born 21st November 1945)

  1. When this lockdown ends, I need a retinue of Safety Gays to get me ready as I leave the house like those in Ms Hawn's "Star!" video!

    1. I can see it now. A glittering stairway down the cliff, feathered showgirls, a bevy of jazz hands, and here she is, ladies and gentlemen - Inexplicable Divine and Her Boys!!

I think you can buy feather boas online. Jx

    1. She has had - ahem - a bit of work done, here and there, methinks.

Not sure I ever saw Butterflies Are Free, but she has appeared in may films we've loved... Jx

  3. I have a feather boa that needs an outing.... maybe I could use it in the FGES competition?

    1. Needless to say, we have an array of them hanging up (in a clothes-protector bag) under the stairs, just waiting for an excuse for an outing... Jx

    2. I'd let you use my "glittering stairway" (not a euphemism - I hope!) that Jon described above, Ms Scarlet.

  4. Mad! Hell!

Is there anything better than Helen in her recliner being carried out by the cops as she rewinds VHS Madeline dying? No.

Love that film - and what wouldn't we give to see that musical production of Sweet Bird Of Youth?! Jx

    2. But my most favorite might be "Blah, blah, blah" at the funeral.
