Ally Pally's display*
Pity the poor bastards who've arranged a fireworks party or are off to a public display for Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night tonight. As forecast, it's been pissing down all day, and there's no sign of it stopping!
Shame, as it would have been quite jolly to see this year's effigy at the famous/notorious Edenbridge bonfire go up:
Regardless, here's a number that seems to be becoming a bit of a "go-to" on this night every year...
...but with a twist!
Enjoy your night of banging and flashing, dear reader!
[* Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) is just down the road from us, but we can't even see their fireworks from our garden.]
Nope. I made it 52 seconds into the video and couldn't take anymore. I would love to see that effigy go off... Oh wait, I guess we did.
ReplyDeleteOld people taking the piss out of rave classics? It might be a bit of a "niche" taste. Jx
DeleteNow that would have been a glorious bonfire!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite a beautiful day here...a dare even say very warm...high 70's and the garden is enjoying this "Indian Summer" as even more rose blooms are till coming. We've had a lovely sit in the garden today.
Our Indian Summer's subsided somewhat with the rain, but still high 50s, so definitely not bad for November. All our houseplants are still out, and will remain out until there's anything resembling a frost forecast. Jx
DeletePS following on from the comment I posted over at IDV's, where you live is on a parallel with sultry climes such as Menorca, Sardinia, the Aegean Sea, Ankara and Beijing...
DeleteI like the twist on the classic!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I didn't hear a single firework last night - probably due to the pissing down with rain thing.
Sx
It was non-stop here last night - and the Ally Pally event did go ahead; for although we couldn't see any more than flashes of light against the clouds we caught the distant noise of their DJ playing. I can't imagine how sodden all those people in the audience must have been by the end of the party... Jx
DeleteThe Fourth of July is the big fireworks holiday in the US and it's pretty much a guarantee that it will always be dense fog and chilly that night here in San Francisco. We're just that contrary.
ReplyDeleteHaving fireworks in July makes so much more sense than in November, although admittedly the show would need to start quite a bit later... Jx
DeleteLove that video !
ReplyDeleteIt's (surprisingly) fifteen years old now - most of them are dead... Jx
