  1. Put me down for a tin of that X-Ray stove polish! I can't tell you how many ovens I've inadvertantly blown up by using non-exploding polish.

Also, as soon as I clapped eyes on the electric girdle, I thought: Janet! Doctor Scott! Janet!! Brad!! Rocky!

    1. That exploding polish almost blew out my R2-D2 enema! And yes, there can only ever be one "Doctor Scott" nowadays... Jx

  2. Oh, you found some gems. That last one... those were trading stickers/cards, right? Like Garbage Can Kids? Only with products. I remember them. Love R2D2 Enema. And play it cool... does it come with the eye patch, or is it sold separately? Kizzes.

    1. I think the "sporty eye-patch" is an essential part of that look...

As for trading cards, no idea. I don't remember anything like that in the UK that didn't involve football teams or cars or the sort of thing that the "laddish" boys were into. Not me. Jx

  3. gawd, what a motley collection of stuff! the "play it cool" guy should be real instead of a drawing though.

    1. Imagine the poor sap that would have to dress like that and pretend it was "cool". Mind you, I do remember the dreadful 1970s mail-order catalogue models... Jx

  4. The man and woman made of cork is going to give me strange nightmares although I do agree food is more fun with wine. Is George Lucas aware of R2-D2's other profession, I wonder? I've never worried about my stove polish exploding.

The "Play It Cool" guy looks like Patrick McGoohan of the tv show The Prisoner. The show was well before my time, but I watch quite a wide variety of things.

    1. Start drinking wine too early, and you can forget about the food :-)

Patrick McGoohan in tighty-whiteys and matching eyepatch is not a particularly enticing prospect, tbh...

  5. Damn it now I want an eyepatch - the advert probably had much the same effect on Madonna.
