Burning in my heart

St Swithin's Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin's Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more

Yes, today is that mythical date in the calendar - and the forecast is for dry and sunny weather, with a 30C heatwave arriving in London on Saturday!

Good old St Swithin!

  1. Interesting interp on Heatwave. Love that song. The lead singer's voice... I like it. I can't think of who it reminds me of, but this is a perfect pairing of style, voice and song. Thanks for sharing. Kizzes.

    1. She's slightly reminiscent of Duffy (singer of the mega-hit "Mercy"), but i think she has a quality all of her own... Jx

  2. Wait, first you got a bunch of rain and now a heat wave? My goodness, the humidity! So many people destined for a bad hair day! Personally I'd go for the "military hair bun" on that day. Strict and tidy!

    1. The breeze has been quite strong, so keeps the humidity down a bit. However I am expecting to see a variety of "scrunchies" around and about as temperatures rise... Jx

    2. Thankfully just had my hair cut, so I should survive any humidity humiliation.

    4. Second now! Last time she had to cut out all of my lockdown attempts - it actually looks how it should do now, thank goodness.

    5. Well, "Miss Louise Brooks" needs to look her best for her audience! Jx

  3. I am thankful to be in the West - I don't cope well with temperatures over 25, which is my limit.

    1. The West Country is usually warmer than the East of England, so look out!

It's lovely and sunny today here. No frizz yet. Jx

  4. Our "heatwave" here on the East coast means barely scraping into the mid-20s, thankfully. Although, just a little way inland away from the cooling sea breeze, it should feel more like 28!

    1. The "North Sea effect". It beats me why some of the seaside towns on the East coast are so popular as holiday destinations, when it's rare for them to be anything like as warm as those in the South and West! Jx
