Spangled

Gratutous flag-wearing totty time again...

Hell...

After the most splendid "Gay Xmas" weekend, it all comes crashing to earth with a bump, courtesy of that most unwelcome of words: Work.

Never mind, eh? The flag-waving, firework-lighting celebrations of the departure of one of its colonies from Her Majesty's Empire are afoot, which gives us a wide range of options for this Tacky Music Monday!

I've settled on an old, old favourite for the occasion...

In the immortal words of dear old Oscar Wilde: "America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up."

Have a good week, dear reader.

  2. “They say that when good Americans die they go to Paris," chuckled Sir Thomas.
    "Really! And where do bad Americans go to when they die?" inquired the duchess.
    "They go to America," murmured Lord Henry.

    1. If, with the literate, I am
      Impelled to try an epigram,
      I never seek to take the credit;
      We all assume that Oscar said it.

  3. Happy Fourth, dear. This one comes with little to celebrate, I'm afraid. Not too thrilled with recent events... or what's coming down the pike. Well... we had a good run?

    1. I feel sorry for you Yanks, with the despotic legacy of that tangerine twat still lingering over your legal system. At least(!) all we have to suffer is a load of bluster in the face of an inflation wave... Jx

  4. I'm in my apartment in San Francisco with fireworks blasting all around me (the sun just went down) and true to a long standing tradition, the fog is so thick all you can see is blurred bursts of color.

    1. It's usually exactly the same here on Bonfire Night (too foggy/smoggy to see any fireworks) - but at least there is a good excuse, as it is in November... Jx

  5. You'd be fresh out of luck for bonfires here right now...it's been raining for days (bloody Swythun!) and the Met Office gleefully tells us it's the coldest spell in 37 years! THIS IS THE TROPICS, YOU YANKERS!
