Do it!

Almost there. The weekend is in sight - and it looks like the bitter cold of the past week is about to give way to more usual British weather, rain.

Hey ho.

Only recently, on hearing this song on the radio, I thought to myself "You just don't get people playing the flute in dance music any more!"

So let's redress that balance and remind them what they're missing, shall we, with a classic?

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a faboo weekend, dear reader!

  1. Oh this song! A cousin got married that year and she and all her rich white suburban friends took lessons so they could do the hustle at the reception like they were on Soul Train. Not a smile to be soon. Dear god. And she is still all that. Oh, sorry. Where were we?

  2. Oh man I AM that old. And I did 'Do The Hustle'. Thing was, it was a fun dance to do if you had a good partner. Beat flailing around like a stoned moron at Woodstock - which was how most people were dancing at the time.

    1. I was 12 when this came out, so my "dancing" was probably to stuff like The Goodies The Funky Gibbon, Mud Tiger Feet or something by The Wombles... Jx

  3. I used to play the flute (it's in the wardrobe behind me as I type) but I've never done The Hustle.

    1. I've always been more fond of "playing the pink oboe", myself... Jx

    1. It was a well-known phrase even at the time of The Goons, apparently! Jx

  5. Oh my gosh that was several life times ago.
I loved this but preferred The Fatback Band - Spanish Hustle.
Both came out in 1975 and so did I. I danced my little Tush of to this and began learning how to play the pink oboe.

    1. You mastered that instrument very quickly, from what I have read on the backs of the toilet doors in Plymouth... Jx
