Many happy returns of the day to the very gorgeous Michael York! Any excuse just to gaze at this photo again.
Another snippets post today, dear reader...
- Marvel geek news: Dear old Serena McKellen and Patrick Stewart are among the cavalcade of stars announced to appear in the next MCU blockbuster Doomsday, scheduled for release next year! It took more than five hours of livestreaming to announce the whole cast - longer than the film itself, no doubt!
- Trump vs The Golden Girls news? A page on the US Department of Defence website dedicated to Bea Arthur's military career before she became famous was deleted as part of the fascist purge of DEI content! "No offence, pussy cat!" "None taken, you cancerous little prune!"
- Sickly confectionery crime news: A man who stole £220.50 worth of Cadbury Crème Eggs from a Peterborough petrol station has been banned from Cambridgeshire for three months. Lucky they didn't just make him eat them all. Then he'd be sorry!
- The gays in Spain stay mainly on the plain news: Apparently, there has been a marked rise in the numbers of gay people moving from the USA to Spain, to Madrid in particular. ¡Olé!
- Tariffs news: Threats to impose tariffs on imports of British cars to 'Merka? Ha! We only have one truly British car manufacturer left!
- Impending apocalypse news: There's a rogue planet on the loose in the universe! Apparently.
- And finally: Sharing a birthday with Mr York (above), as well as the saintly Sarah Vaughan, David Janssen, former PM Jim Callaghan, Quentin Tarantino, Fergie of Black Eyed Peas and - erm - Mirah-fucking-Carey, Miss Sally Carr is 80 today! Who? I hear you ask... Here she is, with her band's greatest hit:
As I said the first time I ever posted it: "They just don't make songs like this anymore!"
And the weather? Gorgeous Spring sunshine (and cherry blossoms and daffs everywhere)!
Ah, Michael York, what a handsome man when he was young and also one of my first British guy crushes! This post sent me down the rabbit hole on a few of the topics shared. Who knew about the Morgan or even the international ownership of such classic British cars! (I was aware of some, but not all) Here's to Friday, sweetpea, and the weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteCheers, Savvy! Jx
DeletePs And yes, it's quite a revelation to find that iconic cars like Rolls-Royce and the Mini are now foreign-owned...
Just hearing Cadbury Crème Eggs makes me stomach and teeth hurt. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteI think that is why I have not gotten into Marvel films. It's too dizzying all the cast and the interconnecting of films. My mind hurts.
And Michael York! NOW were cooking with gas!!!! That man always could and still does make me quiver in all the right places. We are to hit the 80's this weekend! Get out the club chairs boys...cocktails outdoors, finally.
I'm with you on creme eggs, Maddie. Too sweet by far.
DeleteThe forecast for London's on the rise, too, and should hit the high 60s F next week. Yay! Jx
Unbelievably, I used to love Cadbury Crème Eggs. I had the major hots for Michael York. The USA is a scary place.
ReplyDeleteAmerica never ceases to amaze us, day on day. Surprised you like creme eggs, Mitch - but then again, you are now in Spain, home of the sweetest and sugariest desserts!
DeleteJon:
DeleteUSED to love creme eggs. Not anymore. My tastes in sweets have refined...
Oh, I understand that one. I used to love Milky Bars. Nowadays, I avoid white chocolate like the plague! Jx
DeleteOh, I had a thing for Milky Bars, too, and Milky Ways! I was a stout child.

"Fatty, fatty, two by four. Can't get through the dressing room door? Welcome to the Hefty Hideaway house of fashion for the ample woman. We cater to the big-boned gals like yourself who are stylish and at the same time frustrated by the lack of sizes in the department stores today. Have an eclair. Eat up, girls, eat up. Big is beautiful!" Jx
DeleteI used to love Cadbury's Creme Eggs, too! I used to write posts about them to celebrate Easter!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pic of Micheal York.
Sx
Oh, Chirpy Cheep Cheep!! Wonderful! One of the first tunes I remember.

Heavens - creme eggs are a topic worthy of blogging about? Chirpy Cheep Cheep was a staple of my childhood, too!
DeleteI think we are unanimous - everyone here is a member of the Michael York fan-club. Unsurprising, really. He's gorgeous! Jx
Gosh, Crème Eggs or Chirpy chirpy Cheep cheep;
ReplyDeleteI don't know which is worse
Oh yes I do! I couldn't bring myself to push the play button on the video
but then again I could never be able to force myself to eat a Crème Egg either.
You can console yourself with Michael York's nipple. Jx
