It's a snippets post again, dear reader:
- Totty news: My ultimate sex god Tom Daley has hung up his teeny-tiny "budgie-smuggler" Speedos for the last time, as he announced that he's retiring from diving after a successful Olympics for Team GB.
- Summer's late again: Yesterday (12th August) was the hottest day of the year in the UK so far, reaching 34.8C (95F) in Cambridge, according to the Met Office. It felt like walking in front of a bakery oven - even the wind was hot - so I'm not surprised.
- Happy World Organ Donation Day! I spent decades donating my "organ" to anyone who wanted it, so it's good to be recognised.
- Art news: The much over-hyped graffiti artist Banksy's been on a "spraying-spree" all across London.
- Nature news: A pair of male flamingos have been busy hatching an egg together at Paignton Zoo.
- And, finally... Many happy returns to stern lady lesbian Tanita Tikaram, who turned 55 yesterday! By way of a celebration, here's her most addictive hit [memorably covered by none other than Liza Minnelli on her brilliant Results album]:
