Rökk und roll

Sigh. The sun is shining and there's some warmth in the air, and it's forecast to be much of the same over the next few days. Just in time to be back in work...

Never mind eh? Let's let the Nazis' favourite femme fatale of the war era lift us out of the gloom on this Tacky Music Monday (together with her ensemble of distinctly unmännlich dancers) - here's Fraulein Marika Rökk:

Have a fabelhaftesten week, Lieblings!

  2. OMG! I didn't know what to expect but I didn't expect that !
Manic mad and camp to the extreme and I loved it. Wearing a Deely bobber was a stroke of genius
    Totally bonkers and a joy.

    1. Ha! Deely-boppers!

I'm quite impressed that the Germans showed a rare sense of humour... Jx

  3. So if you had to choose between wearing the black suit or a white one which would you chose? It's interesting that from a distance these looked like proper suits, but upon closer inspection they're actually one pieces. Seems rather cheap to me. I thought Germans dressed better, especially back in that era, didn't everyone dress better?

    1. Oh, black every time - much more elegant (and flattering)! Funny - I don't usually associate Germans with style (unless you're talking about the Nazi uniforms designed and manufactured by Hugo Boss)... Jx

    2. Most Americans are terrible at dressing themselves, so I guess the fashion bar is set pretty low. So many people went to the store in their pajamas during the pandemic; it was really a crisis on many fronts.

    1. At last! Back where you belong... [NB I already added "Bears in Shorts" to my Reading List]

Miss Rökk's career was a lengthy one, both under the Nazis and afterwards. Although it doesn't really look it, the clip is from a film made in 1962. Jx

  6. 23 and partly cloudy here. Not a bad day to return to work I suppose if one has to work (and is not old and farty enough to be retired).

    1. It was a lovely warm day yesterday. Today's a lot cooler, as there's a bit of a strong breeze - but neither type of weather makes work any less of a "necessary evil". Jx
