RIP, Darth Vader, aka James Earl Jones. What a voice!
Another snippets post, dear reader...
- Royal news: After the good news from the Princess of Wales, HM The King's off to Australia on tour.
- Culture with a capital "K" news: The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is celebrating the centenary of the foundation of its massive theatre and performance archives (and the collection's reopening after a refurbishmnet over the summer) with a free exhibition dedicated to the remarkable woman whose donation of her own exhaustive collection kick-started it all - Gabrielle Enthoven, society lesbian, who was at various times friends with everybody from Sarah Bernhardt and Oscar Wilde through to John Gielgud and Noel Coward.
- Science news: A common food colouring tartrazine - linked by some scientists to ADHD in children - can turn your flesh transparent, apparently! Cue hours of fun as children smear Sunny D all over their body so they can "turn invisible"...
- Sports news: He may have been knocked out in the US Open Tennis semi-final last weekend, and he may have a tendency to vomit when he gets stressed while playing, but the UK's new "tennis hope" Jack Draper's quite a nosh...
- And, finally: Cheap-and-disgusting-but-wildly-popular "bakery" chain Greggs has progressed from its hideous Primark range of branded clothing - that included bucket-hats, hoddies and Crocs adorned with sausage-rolls - to a new 22-carat gold jewellery range that includes sausage-roll earrings. For Fashion Week. I despair.
And the weather? November.
Jack is a cutie. I'm surprised Charles is well enough to undertake tours of other countries. I wish I had access to a great museum. I bet the Victoria & Albert is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove,

The V&A is our favourite museum in London - and we have quite a few! Jx
DeleteIt was sad news about James Earl Jones.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. However, as my Nana used to say: "He had a good innings." Jx
DeleteOh I do Like a bit of Tennis.
ReplyDeleteI just had to google picture search Greggs gold jewellery range.
I so wish that I had not! once seen, never unseen !
"New balls, please!"
DeleteGoogling anything branded as "Greggs" is never a good idea. Even a photo of their Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt is enough to give me indigestion. Jx
