Heavens. You know you're getting old when you discover...
...that Andrew Ridgeley - the prettier half of Wham! - blows out sixty candles on his cake today!
With our much-needed sojourn to Spain looming (just a week-and-a-bit to go), what's more appropriate to play by way of a tribute than this?
That's Madam Acarti and I in Benalmadena.
We wish.
Many happy returns, Andrew John Ridgeley (born 26 January 1963)
I wonder if Andrew was a tea room Queen like George Michael? I'm getting ready for a much long overdue sojourn myself soon. I mean it's been almost 3 years!!
ReplyDeleteGeorgina was the "cottage queen"; always cruising Hampstead Heath. Andy did Bananarama! - he was married to Keren Woodward for 27 years. Jx
DeleteMy heart stopped when I saw that pick... I thought... oh no! Not Andrew, too! He put the wham in wham bam thank you man. Such a cutie. He had a great career as eye candy. As a race car driver? Not so much. Sixty, you say? That's the new forty! We're all spring chickens around here... mmm hmm. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteHe - like we - wouldn't pass for "spring chicken" any more. Dammit! Jx
DeleteI don’t remember this very dated song. No surprise. Meeting some friends from Benalmádena for coffee today. It's still chilly but the sky is vivid blue.
ReplyDeleteThis song is legendary over here, and is trundled out by every radio station whenever the sun starts to shine. Speaking of sunshine - it's cheered me up on a grey and drizzly morning to be reminded about blue skies and Benalmadena! Roll on 4th Feb! Jx
DeleteI can't bear all our pop stars getting older. The song still drives me mad though, even though I've sung along many times!

It's not even as annoying contagious as Wake Me Up Before you Go-Go, and yet it still hard-wires itself into your brain! Jx
DeleteOh he was lovely. Loved them both but Andrew was my Heart-rob
ReplyDeleteHe was just sooo pretty back then. Jx
