Jump wise! *

This has been an absolute bastard of a week, work-wise, and I can't wait for it to end so I can actually enjoy some of this ongoing heatwave the UK is experiencing...

To get us in the mood, I fancy something loud and shouty - and incredibly catchy - like this classic choon from [gulp!] twenty-six years ago:

Oh, yes!

Thank Disco "UK Garage" It's Friday!

Enjoy the hot weekend, dear reader!

[* or at least that's what I think he's saying through all that reverb...]

  1. I opted for Peter Lawford and June Allyson doing the Varsity Rag (searched YouTube as a result of your GIF) rather than the other loud and shouty.

    1. Hahahaha!

I love that, too - but it's not enough for me to let off steam to! Jx

  2. I have absolutely no recollection of that "jump wise" at all. I'm guessing it wasn't on the playlist down the Pit in Cromer on a Friday/Saturday night...?

I've just checked the forecast for this weekend - looks like you'll get plenty of basking done! (I'll be hiding in the shade, even though it'll be 5-10 degrees cooler here)

    1. The genre known as "UK garage" was very "niche", even back in the '90s. Some of it crossed over to the charts and more mainstream venues, like this one, Sneaker Pimps' Spin Spin Sugar, CJ Bolland, Groove Armada and so on.

Most of it was confined to the "hipper" venues that you or I didn't go to. Because we weren't cool enough. 🤓 Jx

  3. I'm not cool enough right now, that's for sure - I need an Oasis - which was what I was listening to in 1997!
Have a great weekend Jon, and I hope you catch some rays - it's been foggy here but it's just burnt off.

    1. It's warming up nicely here, too, Ms Scarlet! I might just take off to the garden centre (I would have headed to Regent's Park, but there's no Piccadilly Line today so it's "local shops for local people" today) for a nose around... Jx

PS 1997 was a good year for music, as I recall - that BBC all-star version of Perfect Day, Robbie Williams Angels, Texas, All Saints, No Doubt Don't Speak, Sash!, Daft Punk, The Cardigans Love Fool, Ultra Nate, The Verve, Gala Freed From Desire, Chumbawumba, Ricky Martin, Natalie Imbruglia, Aqua Barbie Girl, Spice Girls, Choose Life, and (of course) Dame Elton's tribute to Diana...
