As long as you're groovin'

The gorgeous Ipheion uniflorum 'Jessie' in the extensive gardens of Dolores Delargo Towers.

Spring may have suddenly (hopefully temporarily) juddered to a halt, with rain and cold northerly winds descending upon us; but some things never fail to warm the cockles of our hearts - such as our burgeoning garden, and the music of Mr Marvin Gaye (who would have been 80 years old today)...

Here's the one that was shamefully plundered by Messrs Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke, Mr Gaye's 1977 funk classic:

I done got myself together baby
And now I'm havin' a ball
As long as you're groovin'
There's always a chance
Somebody watches
Might wanna make romance

Such a talent, sadly missed.

Marvin Gaye (born Marvin Pentz Gay Jr., 2nd April 1939 – 1st April 1984)

  1. What a lovely picture. I would love to spend a afternoon in your no doubt glorious patio area. We too are getting another touch of colder temps with, that damp, misty rain and awful winds...what a chill. Tis typical April. Might need a nip of whiskey tonight

    1. Check the link on "our burgeoning garden" to my erstwhile other half's monthly garden blog, and you can track the place as it develops...

Yes, 'tis definitely a time to retreat from the chill and the damp with something warming down one's throat! Jx

  2. This year I AM going to do some gardening! My mum was a keen gardener, and I now feel a yen to give it a go. I am also now a proud owner of an Orchid. It has stayed alive since the 9th March - so I am doing well. I will be visiting your blog for tips!

    1. The competition will be hotting-up for the Mistress MJ's annual gardening "show'n'tell", methinks! If she ever comes out of the woodwork long enough to actually do one, of course... Jx
