Shimmy!
Another week's almost over, dear reader, and won't we be glad when it is..?
John-John and I are off to our first Polari of 2022 at the venerable Royal Vauxhall Tavern tonight, then there's another "gathering of the clans" tomorrow to investigate more potential venues for future Film Club get-togethers (in other words a pub crawl) - so there's actually a bit to look forward to.
To get the party mood started, let's hairspray our locks into submission with the crispiest flicks we can manage, slip into our co-ordinating shimmery blue "harem" outfits, and boogie like Alton McClain & Destiny [and whatever happened to them..?]!
Thank Disco It's Friday!
Have a great weekend, gang!
Have a good one!!! Love the gif! Im a huge fan of anything Mame.
ReplyDeleteI too will be out tomorrow for probably the first huge crowd going event...a Fire and Ice tour. Ice sculptures, around 50 of them, all around town.... but many pubs in between each.
Should be interesting and will feel good to be back out... I hope.
Confessions time - I have never actually seen the whole movie of Mame, just clips! I think it's basically because I never could stand Lucille Ball, and that put me off. The critics slagged it off, too, so I was probably right. Angela Lansbury woz robbed!
DeleteRant over, having had a fun night out tonight (more of that later, no doubt) we're looking forward to another full-on session of "reality" tomorrow!
Hope you enjoyed yours. Jx
My favorite Mame version is with Roz Russell! And Coral Browne was the best drunken Vera Charles ever.
DeleteMiss Russell and Miss Browne - what a combination! Jx
DeleteMaddie's spot on. The most enjoyable version of Mame is with Roz Russell.
DeleteI'll have to add it to the pile of "DVDs still in their shrink-wrap waiting to be watched" :-)

ReplyDeleteand I can't bear Lucille Ball either.
Let's just be thankful she never turned her hand to Disco... Jx
DeleteAdore this song. And, of course, this is but the only place to hear it! Love this. Thanks for the upbeat ending to a not so great week. And Lucy, Bea, and A GOOCH! Jane was a love and they are all sorely missed. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteIt's always goo to start a weekend with a shimmy - Disco or otherwise! Jx
